Revisiting indication for hysterectomy according to PALM-COEIN classification and its correlation with histopathological examination reports

Background: Hysterectomy is most common major gynaecological surgery. AUB commonest indication for hysterectomy. done when medical/minimally invasive treatment methods fail. It provides permanent relief of symptoms and patient satisfaction. Aim this study was to correlate the clinical preoperative diagnosis histopathological findings cases which needed abdominal Methods: This prospective conducted in Department OBG at Mamata general hospital, Khammam, during December 2020 2022. The patients were diagnosed based on history, examination ultrasonography reports. Patients with frank malignancies uterine prolapse excluded. wherever it indicated specimens sent (HPE). HPE reports correlated Results: In 50 who underwent hysterectomy studied. Data recorded terms demographics, features, indications findings. observed that, leiomyoma [21 women (42%)]. Among these 21 women, 4 different (adenomyosis 2 unremarkable myometrium cases). Leiomyoma myometrium, chronic papillary endocervicitis cervix, hydrosalpinx fallopian tubes simple serous cysts ovaries histopathology noted. Conclusions: widely performed operation mandatory confirming management. With improvement options AUB, benign disease should only be all other conservative
